Many South Africans were saddened to hear that Patrick Mynhardt passed away on Thursday in London.
Mynhardt was much loved across the country for his popular stage character Oom Schalk and The Boy from Bethulie, but also the cranky old grandfather in television’s Suburban Bliss and Pappa in the acclaimed Afrikaans TV series Vyfster.
His death is a great loss to the South African acting community and he will be sorely missed.
To his family and friends we extend our condolences in this time of grief.
