Puma’s and Travelgate

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Isn’t it funny how the politicians get themselves in a knot because convicted killer, Van Schalkwyk, was included in the Puma’s team when most of those same politicians are convicted criminals themselves!

If they weren’t blowing up innocent people in the name of the struggle back in the day, they have been involved in some dodgy things now - like the travelgate saga for one!

Now it appears that the government is going to stop all pending actions against those found guilty in the Travelgate scandal and that they also agreed to pay the legal costs incurred by MPs who challenged their alleged debts in court.

According to Friday’s Gazette, the Bathong creditors would meet on May 23 to adopt the following resolutions:

# “That the liquidators are hereby directed not to pursue any action as against the various members of Parliament in relation to the un-invoiced tickets, levies and/or services.”

# “That the liquidators are hereby directed to cease all other litigation as against the members of Parliament in relation to all ‘vouchers’ that may have been utilised by Bathong Travel (Pty) Ltd or its directors or shareholders.”

So it seems that the government is now going to cover up the crimes of the guilty parliamentarians and pretty much use its power to thwart any prosecutions. This is the most ‘in your face’ thing I have ever seen this corrupt government doing. How can they justify protecting and AIDING criminals??? How can they get away with it???

I am outraged at this and so should you be!

Goodbye Bokke, screw you ANC!

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Once again this f*cking ruling party are interfering in places that they are NOT welcome!

Today they announced that ANC delegates at the party’s policy conference in June had resolved that all sports teams should carry the same brand: the Protea. In other words the Springbok will be scrapped!

SpringbokWhy do they feel this need to piss everyone off? Is it just to show that they can do as they please? To display their power? Or is it racially minded?

Never mind that the Springbok emblem has brought about more unity then they have. Never mind that the majority of rugby supporters don’t want to become Proteas. Who can ever forget that even President Mandela turned out to watch the World Cup dressed in a Springbok jersey?

I am livid about this. I am sure that this is going to create a lot of ill-will within the country and especially in the sporting community - ill-will that is not really needed when there is so much other drama going on. Why do they not put their minds to something productive like crime reduction, corruption crackdowns or job creation?

I will say this: I have always been a ‘bokke’ fan and I always will be a ‘bokke’ fan. I don’t give a continental sh!t about what the ANC decides. I will proudly display the springbok emblem and will always refer to the SA rubgy team as the Springboks!

Bob Woolmer mystery

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

It seems as though recently we have been getting a huge influx of mysteries. In our minds, the most recent mystery is: Who killed Inge Lotz?

This question overshadowed another mystery which to me is just as mysterious: Who killed Bob Woolmer?

Just as the van der Vyver trial was reaching its climax, the Jamaican inquest into Bob’s death was concluded. They failed to determine his cause of death.

The inquest, with an 11 member jury could not decide whether Bob had been murdered, or whether he died of natural causes. The official inquest had been expected to deliver the definitive conclusion. Instead, the jury said it had reached an “open verdict”.

The cause of death will now be left up to Jamaican’s chief prosecutor.

The vast majority of people polled on this blog believe that he was murdered. Foreign pathologists say it was a natural death. Will we ever know the truth?

Hier kom die Bokke!

World CupWell done to the ‘Bokke’ who have brought the Rugby World Cup back home to South Africa by defeating England so soundly! You have done our country proud!

During the World Cup, our boys have played particularly well. Their skill and discipline saw them progress through the seven-week, 20-nation World Cup unbeaten and the deserved winners.

Suck it England!

Cricket or Rugby - which is more representative?

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

“Go out there and represent South Africa with dignity. We believe in you and we will be behind you as you stand toe-to-toe with Australia next week.” - Minister of Sport, Makhenkesi Stofile, talking about the Proteas in the Cricket world Cup.

Number of black players in the starting XI - 0

Springbok Rugby World Cup Team - 1 Black, 5 Coloureds

Despite these stats Stofile still insists that the squad does not represent South Africa as a new country. What the hell has he got against rugby?

Cricket has always been full of window dressing. Which players have actually had much playing time? Ntini only. telemachus never got to play, Bosman played one game and ‘first choice’ Peterson bowled less than part time Smith.

Since the 1991 unification, Rugby has not transformed well. But we have to remember that you can only select a squad from the people available. This means that yes, the SA rugby squad is indeed representative of player demographics! In the whole Currie cup teams there are only 7 black players. Only 5 are eligible for the squad. So White is in fact having to choose out of a pool of 10 people only.

Certain questions have come up regarding this situation. Is rugby being attacked because it was traditionally an ‘Afrikaans’ game, whereas cricket was essentially a ‘English’ game? Is it because the rugby establishment has traditionally been conservative and cricket has been liberal?

Don’t get me wrong - I love both cricket and rugby. What I don’t like is the disparity between the two made worse by interfering politicians. they should be working on transforming both rugby and cricket on the grassroots level first, before attacking the national team.

Whatever Stofile’s reason for his unbalanced opinion, he is stuck in the past, just like our sports.
