Climate Change Bullsh!t

climate.jpgAl Gore recently won all kinds of awards for his documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” about global climate change. In it he gives all kinds of reasons for it and also issues warnings that is we don’t stop our pollution, then in as little as 10 years it will be too late. Well it seems that most of what he has to say was scaremongering and WRONG!

The last couple of days has seen a frenzy over this topic in the blogging world, particularly amongst scientists. It seems as though they are all objecting and complaining about the documentary. Even a top adviser to Mr Gore, the environmental scientist James Hansen, said recently that the former vice-president’s work may hold “imperfections” and “technical flaws”.

I won’t go into all the pro’s and con’s of global warming. You can read the main article itself on the Sydney Morning Herald website (click to access)

Many of the readers here will remember that not that long, the press was going on about the coming ice-age! Turned out not to be true. There are so many examples of the press jumping on a bandwagon and creating hype about things, and then they turn out to be not that much of an issue at all. What happened to the hole in the o-zone layer? What about the deforestation in the Amazon? Haven’t heard about them in a while!

We as people need to stop listening so much to the ‘press’ side of things and try to think about things logically. We need to do research on these topics of interest so that we can make informed choices on where we stand on issues. Some people have said that this media frenzy is politically motivated and is all a big conspiracy. What do YOU think?
