Around the World
Here is a short break from my usual rants and raves. I was reading in the paper about the cruise ship “The Regent Seven Seas Voyager” docking at the V&A Waterfront and it got me thinking.
Geez how I would love to go on a round the world cruise! I have always had this fascination with ships and always wanted to go on a cruise, but the price is just so high. I guess you do get pampered etc on the cruise - even with the sh!tty tickets. But mostly the tickets are out of reach for us regular working South Africans.
One of the cruise ships I remember most was the Achille Lauro. Sound familiar? Yeah she was the ship that was hijacked in 1985 by the Palestine Liberation Front. I remember watching the news day by day for the latest updates to the drama. Of course later there was the dramatic fire in 1994 which finally sank her. I wonder if any other cruise ship has made so many headlines - save the Titanic of course!
Anyways I should stop dreaming about round the world cruises and living in the lap of luxury. Both reality and work calls
